Judi Silvano featuring Joe Lovano

Friday December 12th

Judi Silvano is a Philadelphia-born singer, composer, dancer, and visual artist whose creative journey began with a dual degree in Music and Dance from Temple University. After moving to New York City in 1976, she launched a career initially in modern dance, and soon after immersed herself in the downtown jazz scene — evolving into a vocalist known for using her voice like a horn: blending improvisational phrasing, jazz sensibility, and a deep dance-informed sense of rhythm and movement. Over the years, Silvano has recorded 14 albums under her own name (on labels including Blue Note Records, Soul Note/Black Saint, and JSL Records), ranging from jazz standards to original compositions — including projects in duo, trio, and larger ensemble formats.

Joe Lovano is a Grammy-winning American jazz saxophonist, composer, and producer, known for his bold and inventive approach to jazz.  Born on December 29, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was raised in a musical family — his father, tenor sax player Tony “Big T” Lovano, immersed him in jazz from a young age. Over his career, Lovano has released dozens of albums as a leader — including 25 records under the venerable Blue Note Records (1991–2016) and, more recently, projects on ECM Records.  He has collaborated with a huge range of jazz greats — from organists and big-band leaders to modern improvisers — while constantly exploring new sonic territories,
