Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Mecadon grew up immersed in music — his father, veteran jazz pianist Brandon McCune, and his mother, opera singer Christine Clemmons-McCune, shaped his early artistic world and exposed him to the breadth of musical expression from a young age. A rising star on the jazz scene, Mecadon was awarded the $10,000 James Moody Jazz Scholarship, one of New Jersey’s most prestigious honors for young musicians, enabling him to pursue a degree in Jazz Performance at Montclair State University. Esteemed judges including Christian McBride and Renee Rosnes praised his musicianship, dedication, and creative voice.
