Vinayan Chellappa-Ives, a high school freshman, is an emerging saxophonist and composer already making his mark at some of the most respected music venues in the tri-state area. Vinayan specializes in Performing Arts - Music at Bergen County Academies, studies saxophone at Juilliard’s Music Advancement Program and performs in big bands at Jazz House Kids. He has had the privilege of performing with esteemed musicians including Willie Morris, Tim Hayward, Birsa Chatterjee, Mark Gross, Jon Faddis, Billy Hart, Mathis Picard, and others. Vinayan brings a powerful sound to the table and focuses on telling a story through his songs.

Misha Mendelenko is an award-winning Ukrainian jazz guitarist and composer whose sound bridges the rich traditions of bebop and swing with a fresh contemporary perspective. A graduate of Kyiv’s renowned jazz program and later William Paterson University’s acclaimed jazz studies program, Mendelenko has earned international recognition for his expressive improvisation, technical mastery, and compelling original compositions. Whether leading his own ensembles or collaborating with world-class artists, he brings warmth, sophistication, and a deeply personal voice to every performance.

Johnathan Blake is one of the most dynamic and respected drummers in modern jazz — a masterful musician, composer, and bandleader whose sound blends deep groove, explosive energy, and extraordinary sensitivity. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Blake is the son of acclaimed jazz violinist John Blake Jr. and began playing drums at age 10, developing his voice within the city’s rich jazz tradition before going on to study at William Paterson University,

Known for his versatility and commanding presence behind the kit, Blake has performed and recorded with some of the most influential names in jazz, including Pharoah Sanders, Ravi Coltrane, Tom Harrell, Chris Potter, Maria Schneider, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Kenny Barron, Roy Hargrove, and the Mingus Big Band. As a bandleader, his acclaimed Blue Note releases Homeward Bound, Passage, and My Life Matters showcase his powerful compositional voice, emotional depth, and ability to bring together rhythm, melody, family legacy, and social consciousness through music.
