St. Louis native and New York-based saxophonist and composer Willie Morris emerges as a fresh and exciting force on the jazz scene. With a deep-rooted appreciation for the Black-American art forms that have flourished in his city, he brings a dynamic and unique perspective to his craft. 

In this early stage of his career, Willie has already been blessed with remarkable opportunities that have allowed him to perform and record alongside a distinguished lineup of artists. Collaborating with esteemed musicians such as Randy Brecker, John Clayton, John Swana, Byron Landham, Jason Marsalis, Montez Coleman, Josh Lawrence, Donald Edwards, Boris Kozlov, Rudy Royston, and Jon Davis, among others, Willie has had the privilege of immersing himself in diverse musical settings that have expanded his artistic horizons.

Lance Bryant Big Band

Friday July 18th

Saxophonist, arranger and vocalist Lance Bryant performs in the New York/New Jersey area. He received his formal music education at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where he studied saxophone, composition and arranging. After moving to New York City in the mid. 1980s, In 1990 Lance began his decade-long relationship with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra and in 1993 became the Orchestra's Musical Director and Principal Arranger. Lance also made his film debut in Spike Lee's Malcolm X and traveled extensively with Phyllis Hyman, Jon Hendricks, Pete "LaRocca" Sims, James Williams and others.

Lance was selected as an on-stage musician for the Broadway production of the musical review Swing!, which received six Toni nominations. Throughout his music career, Lance's talents as an arranger, composer, saxophonist and vocalist have been featured on many projects like: For the Love of Jazz on Mojazz Records (Lionel Hampton), Dem Bones and Simply Natural on MaxJazz Records for Grammy nominated vocalist Carla Cook, Swingin' Away for the George Gee Swing Orchestra, and more recently on drummer Yoron Israel’s latest release, Visions, the Music of Stevie Wonder.

Julia Danielle Smulson Featuring her trio

Julia Danielle is a dynamic vocalist, arranger, composer, and educator based in Chicago and New York. The 2022 International Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Vocal Competition Winner, Julia has lead her band at notable venues and festivals, including Blues Alley Jazz Club, Chris' Jazz Café, The Jazz Showcase, and The Hyde Park Jazz Fest. Her debut album, released in November 2024, has been praised for its fresh sound and unique interpretation. Currently pursuing a Master of Music in Jazz Studies at The Juilliard School, she continues to refine her artistry while collaborating with celebrated jazz artists such as Charanee Wade, Kenny Washington, Marc Cary, Donald Vega, and Isaiah Thompson. 

She is joined by one of the sharpest young pianists out there, Tyler Bullock, also a Juilliard standout. The two of them together? It’s a rare chemistry. Add in a band of equally serious young talents, and this one’s not just another show—it’s a statement.

Sparni Plath Quartet

Sparni is a multi-instrumentalist from Staten Island, NYC. An accomplished jazz vibraphonist, having studied under vibraphone legend Steve Nelson and performed with jazz greats such as Bobby Watson, Dick Griffin, and Arturo Sandoval, at the heart of all of Sparni’s musical endeavors is a mission to blend various styles of music, while authentically honoring the histories and cultures behind them. Sparni has amassed a small but dedicated local following for hosting cross-genre jam sessions, where rappers freestyle over jazz standards or jazz musicians solo on boom-bap beats during rap cyphers. They can be found gigging frequently in New York City and North Jersey, playing various jazz bars with their jazz trio, as well as in the underground rock circuit as the drummer for artists Emerson Hill and Golder. In addition, Sparni has done session work as a drummer or producer for underground acts such as Calyx, Hills to Height, Jack Powers, Sama the God, Caco, MCP, Lucky Spirit and the YouTube show Lil Garage Live, where their performance of “Running Away” by Roy Ayers garnered over 200K views.

Jae Young Jeong Quartet

Jae young Jeong is a guitarist, composer, and educator who began his musical life at the age of 16. He initially started with learning classical guitar at a music academy, but after a year he switched his main instrument to electric guitar.In 2007, he was accepted to Berklee College of Music as a World Scholarship Tour recipient. Throughout his school years, he performed with many talented students and has been selected as a bandleader to perform at ‘Jazz Guitar Night Showcase’ that took place at Berklee Performance Center. He studied with Mick Goodrick, Tim Miller, Hal Crook, Greg Osby, Sheryl Bailey, and Darren Barrett.In 2012, Jeong started master’s program in Jazz Studies at NYU Steinhardt, where he studied with artist faculty members: Peter Bernstein, Brad Shepik, Kenny Werner, Ralph Alessi, Andy Milne, Ralph Lalama, Billy Drewes, and John Scofield.
